Guest Presenters: Kurt Tramposch, Jean Manoli and Dori Smith
Topics covered:
• The priority risks you need to be aware of
• OSHA compliance and training or licenses you might need to have, as an individual work or a business owner.
• Pesticide and herbicide application: who needs to have a license?
• How to handle – or avoid – toxic or dangerous materials or tools
• Lyme disease and other tick-carried diseases: ways to reduce the risk to you and your clients; accurate diagnosis and protocols for treatment
• Resources available from State and Federal agencies, UMass Extension, and non-profit agencies
Kurt Tramposch, MPH, manager of Weir Meadow Nursery in Wayland, MA. As a community environmental health planner, he has been passionately involved in leading, educating, and lobbying about agricultural and landscape safety issues for two decades. He is a former director of Mass. Nursery and Landscape Association.
Jean Manoli, a training specialist for Massachusetts Division of Occupational Safety. She is an advocate for small businesses, helping them understand and comply with Federal OSHA rules covering safety and health issues.
Dori Smith, M.Ed., landscape designer, writer, and educator; owner of Gardens for Life in Acton, MA. Since being infected with Lyme disease in 2007, she has been active in educating people about prevention and treatment of tick-borne diseases.

Event Cancellation Policy
Cancellations and Refunds
You may cancel an event (program, workshop, or tour) registration and receive a partial refund by notifying us (by email) up to the time of the event. With such cancellations, a cancellation fee of 15% (with a minimum of $5.00) plus paypal processing fees will be deducted. Cancellations received after this time, or after the event will not be refunded. We regret that no refunds or credits can be given for events that are in progress or that you have not attended.
If registration numbers are insufficient, The Underground reserves the right to cancel a program. In this case a full refund will be issued. The Underground also reserves the right to modify this general cancellation and refund policy for a specific event as needed; any modifications will be announced with the details of that event.
Weather Cancellations
Program cancellations due to inclement weather will be announced in advance of the event (typically by email). If you think that your program may be cancelled please call us at 508-872-3792 to confirm.

When you enter an Underground event (program, workshop or tour), you will be entering an area where photography, video and audio recording may occur.
By registering and attending the event, you consent to interview(s), photography, audio recording, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, web casts, promotional purposes, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on web sites, or any other purpose by The Underground and its affiliates and representatives. You release The Underground, its officers and employees, and each and all persons involved from any liability connected with the taking, recording, digitizing, or publication of interviews, photographs, computer images, video and/or sound recordings.
By attending and entering the event premises, you waive all rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with any exhibition, streaming, webcasting, televising, or other publication of these materials, regardless of the purpose or sponsoring of such exhibiting, broadcasting, webcasting, or other publication irrespective of whether a fee for admission or sponsorship is charged. You also waive any right to inspect or approve any photo, video, or audio recording taken by The Underground or the person or entity designated to do so by The Underground.
You have been fully informed of your consent, waiver of liability, and release before entering the event.
The Underground is a grassroots organization of professional landscape designers, landscape architects, horticulturists, contractors, conservationists, arborists and nurserymen.
